Live Class Plugin Installation and Usage Guide

Live Class Streaming with Zoom

Host your live class with Zoom meetings directly from Piksera LMS. Utilize an activity where all your students can participate simultaneously. It's real-time, highly interactive, and very social.

Installation

  1. Download and Unzip: After purchasing and downloading the Live Class plugin for Piksera LMS, locate a directory named "LiveClass" after unzipping the plugin.

  2. Upload to Piksera LMS: Upload the "LiveClass" directory to the Piksera LMS root > app > Plugins directory. Ensure your directory structure looks like this:

     

    Piksera-LMS └── app └── Plugins └── LiveClass

  3. Activate the Plugin: After uploading the plugin, activate it by following these steps:

    • Log in to Piksera LMS as an Admin.
    • Go to Admin Panel > Plugins > All Plugins.
    • Locate the "Live Class Streaming" plugin.
    • Click "Activate."

    Your plugin should be activated within a moment, indicated by a green background in the plugin list.

How to Use

  1. Create a Zoom Account:

  2. Obtain API Keys:

    • Navigate to Zoom Marketplace and create a new JWT app.
    • Fill in the app information and obtain the API key and Secret key from the App Credentials Tab.
  3. Connect Piksera LMS with Zoom:

    • In the Piksera LMS admin menu, click on "Live Class Settings."
    • Enter the Zoom API key and Zoom Secret key obtained from the Zoom App Credentials Tab.
  4. Create Zoom Meeting:

    • Create a Zoom meeting through the Zoom website, desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux), or mobile app (iOS, Android).
    • Retrieve the Meeting ID and password.
  5. Configure Course Live Class Schedule:

    • From the course edit page, go to the Live tab.
    • Provide the necessary information, including Schedule Date, note to students, Zoom Meeting ID, and Zoom Meeting Password. Save to schedule the live class.
  6. Operate Live Video Class:

    • Start the Zoom meeting from your Zoom app before the scheduled time.
    • Students will see the "Live Class" button during the course.
    • Students can join the live class by clicking "Join Live Class Now" based on the scheduled time.

    For Students:

    • In the course playing page, a student can join the live class by clicking "Join Live Video Class."
    • Students will see a countdown if they arrive before the scheduled time.
    • If the instructor hasn't started the Zoom meeting, students will see a warning message.
    • Once the instructor starts the meeting, students can join and await approval if needed.

    For Instructors:

    • In the Zoom app's waiting room or participant list, the instructor will see students awaiting approval.
    • Approve participants by clicking the "Admit" button.
